Mark Gozion, President
and Owner of Containment Design, Inc. holds a BS Degree in Civil Engineering, with special studies in Air Pollution, from
Carnegie-Mellon University. Mr. Gozion is responsible for the development of all containment, ventilation, suspended platform
system, and structural designs and analysis requested by the Painting Contractor.
Prior to establishing CDI in
1997, Mark Gozion was the Director of Containment Design Services at KTA-Environmental, where he personally designed and managed
the preparation of all containment submittals and structural evaluations for painting contracts throughout the United States.
In addition to the preparing submittals for painting contractors, Mr. Gozion also assisted in the development of containment
and ventilation system specifications for owners and DOT’s, many of which are still utilized today for their lead abatement
projects.
During the initial inception of lead abatement on industrial and commercial structures in the early 1990’s,
Mark Gozion presented one of the very first SSPC seminars addressing the implementation of temporary platform, containment
and ventilation systems on bridges. Since that initial presentation to the painting industry in Reston, Virginia in March
of 1992, Mr. Gozion has assisted in the development of the current Steel Structures Painting Council Containment Guide 6,
presented papers and tutorials at SSPC Lead and National Conferences held in Buffalo, New York (1993), Greenwich, Connecticut
(1994), Atlanta, Georgia (1994), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1995) and Charlotte, North Carolina (1996), and published an article
“Design and Costing of SSPC Class 1 Containment Systems” in the Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings,
Volume 11, Number 11.
